Description

 

The Security Engineer assists the defensive teams with executing their missions and creating new capabilities. You leverage your human intuition, expert security knowledge, and an array of tools to uncover malicious activity. You maintain familiarity with multiple operating systems and attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures in order to triage and perform rapid analysis of real-time data feeds, looking for events of interest. You provide technical oversight across the
Blue Team.

Job Duties

  • Work with multiple teams on complex security problem statements to find solutions and helping them build or guiding them through the delivery of the solution.
  • Work with partner teams to maintain and communicate situational awareness of Amazon’s security posture as it relates to the threat landscape.
  • Participate in leadership discussions around the direction of the Blue Team
  • Mentor junior engineer

Basic Qualifications

  • Two years of relevant work experience, such as incident response, forensics, security analysis, or security engineering.
  • Programming experience in one or more modern language such as Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, C, C++, C#, or Java.
  • In-depth understanding of common Internet protocols.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, Windows, or Mac system internals and security controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with system logs, network logs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience correlating unstructured data across a wide variety of log types and event feeds.
  • Experience with malware analysis techniques such as binary reverse engineering/static analysis and behavioral/dynamic analysis, using industry standard tools.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) products and security controls.
  • Experience with automating analysis techniques or other repetitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of both common and advanced adversary TTPs, as well as relevant detection techniques.
